Overview
UCG-MAX is a compact UniFi cloud-managed network gateway designed for small-to-medium business deployments requiring centralized control, routing, and security in a single appliance. It replaces separate router, controller, and security devices with an integrated UniFi OS platform.
The device provides multi-WAN routing, IDS/IPS security, and 2.5GbE connectivity across all ports. It delivers up to ~1.5–2.3 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput depending on configuration, enabling deep packet inspection without significantly impacting network performance. It includes a quad-core ARM processor, 3GB RAM, and integrated NVMe storage (commonly 512GB) for UniFi applications such as Protect (NVR).
It is deployed at the network edge in branch offices, SMB environments, retail sites, and distributed enterprise locations. It can manage 30+ UniFi devices and 300+ connected clients, making it suitable for scalable yet compact network environments.
Integration is native to the UniFi ecosystem, supporting UniFi Network, Protect, Access, Talk, and Connect applications. It supports SD-WAN, VPN (IPsec, WireGuard, OpenVPN), VLAN segmentation, and centralized cloud-based management.
It is not intended for large enterprise core routing, high-density data center environments, or deployments requiring 10GbE backbone switching.
