Overview

The Synology SA3200D is a dual-controller rackmount storage server designed for high-availability enterprise storage deployments. It is typically deployed by infrastructure engineers and storage administrators who require continuous storage access with minimal downtime in environments such as virtualization clusters, backup repositories, and centralized enterprise storage platforms. The system integrates redundant controllers operating in an active-passive configuration to ensure storage services remain available during controller failure events.

Each controller module is powered by an Intel Xeon D-1521 processor with four cores and eight threads, providing the compute capability required to manage storage workloads and system services. The platform includes 8 GB of DDR4 ECC memory per controller, expandable up to 64 GB, allowing the system to support demanding workloads such as iSCSI storage services, virtualization datastores, and multi-user file access. This architecture ensures stable performance and data integrity when running enterprise storage services.

The system provides 12 hot-swappable SAS drive bays supporting 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch dual-port SAS HDDs or SSDs. Storage capacity can be expanded using SAS expansion units, allowing the system to scale to 36 total drives when connected to compatible expansion shelves.
