The Synology RX1217 Expansion Module is a 12-bay rackmount expansion unit designed to extend the storage capacity of compatible Synology Rack Station NAS servers. It connects via a high-speed mini-SAS interface, ensuring minimal latency and high data transfer speeds. The RX1217 is a hot-swappable, plug-and-play solution, allowing businesses to expand storage seamlessly without downtime. When drive capacity is running low on a Synology Rack Station, Synology RX1217/RX1217RP offers an easy way to immediately expand storage by providing 12 additional drive slots. The RAID volume on the Synology Rack Station can be expanded directly without having to reformat the existing hard drives, ensuring service continuity during the expansion process. To ensure 24/7 service uptime, Synology RX1217RP is equipped with redundant power supplies, allowing automatic failover support if one of the PSUs fail. When created as a separate volume, Synology RX1217/RX1217RP also serves as an additional local backup destination for Synology Rack Stations.
