Overview

The StarTech.com USB312SAT3 is an external USB‑to‑SATA adapter cable designed to connect standard 2.5″ or 3.5″ SATA SSDs and HDDs to a USB‑enabled computer. It provides a straightforward method for data access, transfer, backup, cloning, and recovery without installing drives into an enclosure or chassis. This adapter requires no additional software or drivers for operation.

It uses the USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface with transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps (SuperSpeed+), enabling faster data movement compared to older USB standards. The adapter supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol), which can significantly improve read/write performance on compatible systems.
