Overview

The Synology D4EC-2666-8G is a DDR4 ECC unbuffered DIMM memory module designed for enterprise and rackmount Synology NAS systems. It is used by storage administrators to expand system memory in platforms running virtualization services, large file indexing tasks, and high-concurrency storage workloads. The module is validated for Synology server-class NAS hardware to ensure stable operation within the DiskStation Manager storage environment.

This module provides 8 GB of DDR4 memory operating at 2666 MHz (PC4-21300). It uses a 288-pin DIMM form factor and incorporates ECC (Error-Correcting Code) technology, allowing the system to detect and correct single-bit memory errors during operation. ECC memory improves reliability in NAS systems that run continuous workloads such as backup services, iSCSI storage, and multi-user data access.

The module operates at 1.2 volts, enabling efficient power consumption while maintaining stable memory throughput. Because it uses an unbuffered ECC architecture, it is intended for systems that support ECC UDIMM memory rather than registered server memory modules. This configuration is common in many Synology rackmount NAS servers designed for enterprise storage deployments.
